i went and looked at a 1981 924 turbo, its in sad shape, i believe its Bockscar old car. it has a efi, used to have ms, now it kinda has digifant 1 conversion. (not complete) no interior, inside is filled with water, read on Bockscar thread that the throw out bearing is rusted up. so would need a new clutch kit.
engine looks good, (besides wires everywhere)
hasnt been licensed since 2000 (kinda scares me)
any advise on what you guys think,
is it worth restoring? or run away from it
how expensive are the 924t?
thanks

If you're willing to do the work, it would be a lot of fun. The 924 Turbo's are fairly rare and known for the lack reliability, mostly due to a lack of maintenance.
The question is, how good are you at following directions and working on every aspect of the car?
The 924 Turbo (931) uses a similar clutch to a 944 or even a 911, so check out the pricing on a clutch kit and a MegaSquirt kit to get it running again and figure you're going to spend quite a bit of time sorting the problems out even after it is running.
I have to say the body looks to be in nice shape externally and the mechanical and electrical are repairable given time, money and effort. _________________ Stefan

thanks for the reply's,
the body is in great shape for how old it is. just needs some buffing in some spots, im not to worried about interior, that will come in time,
i have some friends that know megasquirt and can help me out.
i know how the clutch's are, i have a 84 94, had it for 4years now. ive had a lot of fun with it, just wanting something and with some power.
the engine seems to be rebuilt.
im gunna pick it up this weekend and try to save its life. needs a lot of work, but nothing i cant do, i havent seen a 924t in awhile.
question,
will the 944/1 suspension work on the 924? |
