I was thinking of picking one up for my 87 924S and wondered how it sounded compared to stock.

Yes I just bought and installed one to match my Bursch headers. It's a quality piece, and comes with everything you need. I've had it on for a little over a month now, its deep and throaty sound is pretty cool and everyone says it sounds like nothing else. I also knocked out the inside of my catalytic converter which adds a little to the sound I'm sure. I bought mine from Tweeks/Mid America for $249 and waited 2 months for it's delivery, if you use them call and make sure it's in stock, if they mention "back-order" try someone else. I did cut and reweld the tail pipe to change it's angle. and it fit much better. If you find the pipes are to tight a fit you can take them to a muffler shop they will expand the ends for a coupla bucks, to improve the fit-up. Being a welder by trade, I'de make my own next time, but Bursch makes quality stuff and I'm satisfied with my purchase. I found a local place later that could have gotten it for me for the exact same money and delivered it in 5 days. _________________ I have a 78 n\a currently under restoration. |

Right on - thanks for the message, Welder. I think I'm going to pick one up. I would get the headers too, but I think that'll kick me into a higher class for the autocrosses out here. Might wanna stay in "stock" for a while till I get to know the car and the competition!
(edit)
Looks like I might spring for the headers also. Those are allowed (as far as I can tell) in the Street Prepared categories. Hmmm....

Have ran a bursch on mine for about 4 years w/o a cat. Much louder than stock after you run it for a while. Decent warranty - replaced my entire system when the tailpipe (not just the tip) fell off. PITA though, have to send the entire system back.
Bought from tweeks

I have a 4-2-1 bursch header into a straight pipe into a supertrapp.
Really, really, really, really loud, especially with the discs removed. Not streetable IMHO, but absolutely great for p*ssing off the neighbors |

you are comparing apples to oranges here, the 924S wont see much of a benefit to a header like the 924na does.
