Time: 23:15:50well, sadly, I have had my fun smelling and studying the tail pipe.
I find the best way to tell whats coming out of the pipe, is by how it smells, and how it looks.
If it is black and grey, thats okay, as long as its dry and smells like poopy gas (varnish, sour, stays on your clothes, smells like a snow blower or lawn mower)
If it has a purple to it, it is oil, if it is wet and oily, it is oil. If it smells burnt, with no sign of sour poopy gas, it is oil. Of course it can always be a combination of both...
If the car blows out black smoke when you press the accelerator down just idling on the driveway in neutral, and it puts black dry suet on the driveway, its bad gas. Or of course a rich mixture if its extremely rich, but usually the car won't start if its that rich.
If its the purple looking exhuast, does it occur on start up? if so, its the valve seals or turbo on a turbo car. If it only occurs under acceleration, wether it be hard or soft acceleration, its the rings.
But, is your gas old in the tank? If so, draining it out and filling up the tank with new gas will help a bit, but not much, you gotta somehow clean that SOB tank out with it on the car (the tank), because u gotta remove the tranny to get the tank out.
