Hi all,

I've been wanting a boost gauge in the turbo. But I wanted to keep the center console gauges, and didn't really like the idea of placing the gauge in the speaker grille, or an A pillar pod...

After seeing the 930 tach with integrated boost gauge, I knew what I wanted. It's now waiting for installation and has tested to work with both pressure and vacuum.

Sometimes I wonder why I can't simply go and spend my time clothes-shopping, like other women do - this was FIDDLY! But worth it, I can't wait to install it and see it doing its job!

Cool. I have the 944 tach on shelf waiting for the same mod. Did you make the dial face by yourself?

Thanks all!

Konrad, it was you who inspired me to do this! I bought the 944 tach with the econometer as a starting point too, only couldn't find the specs for the econogauge motor so finding a sensor to drive it seemed a hit-and-miss.

I ended up buying a 25 EUR standalone gauge off of Ebay and Frankesteined it into a 924S tach I still had lying around. There's a bit less stuff in there which gives a bit more room to.. well, Frankenstein.

The gauge I bought has its own external "sensor" wired up. That sensor has a tube connector, so I got the accuracy of a manual gauge plus the SMD circuit board of an electric one - best of both worlds.

I even found the correct true type font for the gauge face digits online so I could make the face to match the speedo.

Labour of love, perfect for a few days' fun in the warm kitchen while it was too cold to do anything useful outside.

Eliza -

Love your work - it's a masterpiece.

Can you tell us the gauge you bought to put in the 944 gauge? With the external sensor? Are they still available?

I may want to follow your lead.

Reveal my sources, you mean?

Sure, but give me until the weekend. I'm off to work this minute, I'll come back with more info ( including one possible glitch of my Frankenstein gauge that maybe somebody may be able to get out of the way for me... would be a shame if that project didn't take the last hurdle ).

So... here's the link to the gauge I bought. Initially ordered what looked exactly the same from Evilbay, but the seller cancelled my order for whatever reason. So I looked on Amazon, and bought it there. Delivered within 3 working days, price was 24 EUR. Received it Feb 24.

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B08QRQV5Q5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Currently, another 9 in stock .

I choose this because I wanted a 110 to 120 degree sweep so the needle wouldn't interfere with the tach needle. Most boost gauges have a 270 drgree sweep - more readable no doubt but not for where I wanted it to go
