Thanks! Yes, it would be MUCH easier to replace the carpet when the dash is out. As far as time is concerned, it took me around 2-3 hours to remove the dash, but part of that was filming and making sure I had cameras in the right places. If I were to do it again without worrying about filming it would probably be about half that time, actually.

Nice!! I'm envious of the easy sliding bowden cables for your hvac controls. Did you spray a lubricant down those cables as well as cleaning the control surface when you had the box out? Do you think that could be done without dash removal?

No, I didn't do any cable maintenance while I was in there, but I have to pull the console back out again to be replaced, so may do it at that point. It would be possible (I think) to lube them then without having to pull the dash.

Thanks for the tip!

Back working on the 931 this week, now chasing more vacuum leaks and lean surge issues. Picked up a smoke machine and it was a lifesaver for finding leaks

Smoker mandatory and underutilized in these cars.

After chasing vacuum leaks for years, I can't believe I haven't gotten one sooner.

Getting so close to having the car pretty much done. Put carpet in this week and it made a HUGE difference. Went with the Coverdale carpet set from the UK. It's not molded but seemed to fit OK.

Next up I've got seats to recover and then just fiddly bits.

I still need to find a console, so if you have one I'd love to buy it.

Finally got around to recovering the seats, and what a difference it made!

I got the covers from Kyle at Only944.com and they look amazing! Highly recommended!

Great videos. I bought my seat covers at Only944.com as well. My driver's side seat bottom was shot so I replaced that as well. I have a new dashboard to install and a carpet kit is next. Will be watching video sthese frame by frame.

Thank you! The seat covers look amazing and I really can't believe how much of a difference they made in the overall feel of the car.

If you're looking to restore your interior, I would definitely reach out to Kyle at Only944.com and pick some up.

So we had another (pretty) big setback. I was driving the 931 on Monday and it started easily but felt a little down on power. But I was able to drive on the interstate and merge without difficulty to 75-ish Mph. On the way home it felt even more down on power and by the time I got to within a couple miles of the house, it wouldn't rev over 3200 rpm. I limped it home and did a little sleuth work.

Turns out, there is great fuel pressure coming into the bottom of the fuel distributor, but almost zero at the injectors. So it looks like something has either damaged the seals (likely ethanol based fuel) or there is a clog in the distributor.

Gonna be ambitious and try a rebuild of the CIS fuel distributor.

I've watched a ton of videos and it looks tedious but not terrible. Any tips/tricks specific to these cars?

Thanks!

Hey Sean! Thank you for bringing this car back to life.

Thankfully, K jet has benefited from the internet as there are more and more documents explaining the system and the little brilliances behind it. I've got a couple links below for some reading and if need be I may be able to ship a decent unit to you.

https://k-jet.biz/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/K-jet-Alloy-Fuel-Distributor-Rebuild-v01.pdf

https://salvox.com/rebuild-instructions

https://cis-jetronic.com/public_doc/07.3-0997-06.pdf

Keep up the good work and hopefully you can find another one after your move.

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Ordered a Salvox rebuild kit off the auction site and got the fuel distributor rebuilt. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, as long as you take your time and stay clean and organized.

The car runs SOOO much better now, has even more power than before and runs much smoother. I'm working on a video of the rebuild now, so hopefully will have that out this week.

Thank you all for the support and assistance!

Looking forward to that vid, many people have had issues aswell after a rebuild of the fuel head, i guess you need to be very thorough and be sure everything is super clean.

Did you verify the change with your AFR guage?
