I have a whole suspension from an 86 944. I know it doesn't have a provision for the speedo cable but I got the whole setup for $150. |

Good for you. It's always a satisfying feeling to get to this stage after all of the hard work put into the effort! _________________ '95 BMW 318i/5 ..."Pearl"

Would be cool if you kept the 4 lug setup.
If you need more stopping power there are really good pads and shoes.
And if you really really need more stopping power there are ways to keep the 4 lug and go vented fronts and disks rear.
I'm a bit nostalgic as I rarely see any 924s with their original suspension and wheels. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I'm going to drive for a while with four lug suspension. If it stops ok I might keep it. |

If you want to give the old brakes a try please change the pads rotors and at least the shoes, it will make a big difference from the 40 years old stuff on the car and you'll be more likely to keep the 4 lug setup.
mwhahah ! 4 lugs, four !

For street driving it will be fine on four lugs, just get some really good pads, I really liked Hawk HP+ back when I was track driving an NA(and of course reabuilt calipers). If the brakes are good enough for endurance racing it will most likely be good for some street driving with more power. You can easily lock them at any speed so bigger brakes wont reduce the braking distance. But it seems impossible to get rid of the slightly spongy feel in the 4lug setup, and the constant adjustment of the drums...
If I were you i would wait with the brakes until the car is sorted, I guess the car wont see any track action for a while? _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

You guys understand this thing is going to be putting down north of 200HP, right? In my mind the drums are less problematic than the solid fronts. _________________ Toofah King Bad
