3 years and $$$, runs and drives as new. Love it. More fun than the GT3 (on public roads). Spot all the mods!

Car looks absolutely great, even with those wheels...but that steering wheel, shifter and the silver lid under it are from another movie.
I totally agree that the 931 in stock form is the most fun car on public roads that you can have. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

+1 .... steering wheel, shifter, wheels, door mirrors and window tints belong on another car for my personal taste. Too modern for a 931, but thats just me and its your car, your choices. The rest looks spot on, especially the Martini stripe. The Martini stripe makes the car for me. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

I love it. Personal tastes aside, I think the mods embody the concept of "resto-mod" very well, and the quality of work appears to be top notch. I've often contemplated the contrasting drip rail, so it's really cool to see how nice it looks on an actual car.
I have two more suggestions:
1. Complete the Martini look by making the wheels body color. I think those modern wheels would blend a bit better with the car if they were body color, and it would be totally correct for a Martini-themed car.
2. 968 door handles...could be interesting in either body color or contrasting color like the mirrors and drip rails. But in my opinion, the mirrors and door handles should be matched...either both should be in the early squarish style, or both should be in the later 968 style. It might seem insignificant, but I did aero mirrors only on the 941 initially. When I added the 968 door handles, it transformed the look.
In any event, very nicely executed! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

See? You tend to find resto-mods correct if the parts used and the style is period correct and mods are done using higher quality models parts.
To me even tho MOMO makes fine producs its a step down from say a 3 spoke or 4 spoke 924 wheel and same goes for the shifter.
I'm not trying to bring any harsh critique here just to comment on whats seen as "right" for a resto mod.
If i may add a suggestion...ROW bumper for the rear as well. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

| I think the wheels are badass. I just think they are too big for the car. If you could get the same design in a smaller size. I'm guessing those are 18s. |

Porsche 17", all four are same 7" wide. Didn't want to run staggered to maintain balanced handling (I can gently rotate/oversteer this car in a corner). _________________ PCA Licensed Club Racer & Driving Instructor Current P cars: 1981 931

I like it. I think the mods you made are tasteful and for the most part functional for your personal purpose. The 17" wheels probably opened up a larger selection of performance tires that will suit your "Canyon Blasting" desires ! _________________ '95 BMW 318i/5 ..."Pearl"

Hmm. 17" is not that bad. I think they are probably out of my budget though. |

Thanks Morghen for the feedback! I am just having fun with the car, making the car I want. It is not precious or special enough to me to worry about anything but the unique 931 the "I" envisioned.
Wheels: I love the Porsche 17's on the car! My intent was handling performance, 50 series sidewalls, as well as closely replicating the original spider webs but in a Porsche OEM 17. I purposely sourced 4 matching 17x7's because I didn't want to run staggered (for handling reasons). I also love how they modernize the car.
Steering wheel; I have a a four spoke and a three spoke on hand. I have long been a huge fan of smaller diameter fatter rimmed steering wheels. Totally transforms the driving experience. I would recommend that to anyone. It is where our hands get to interact with your car (the $3,000 Techart leather & carbon fiber wheel in my GT3 is so thick I can barely get my hands around it, love it).
Shift knob, that is from a Boxster. Mine was shot and the the OEM is NLA. The replica one Pelican sent me was crap! So this knob is best OEM knob I could find with the correct shift patter. I like the knob feel and the silver trim.
The silver base plate, yeah, I had to source a new one and could only find brown. I painted it silver as an experiment. I originally planned to do similar to my dash and center console trim to match. I will likely paint it black soon.
Thanks for your friendship and help on the board! _________________ PCA Licensed Club Racer & Driving Instructor Current P cars: 1981 931

Carrera! Thanks for the kind words. Your car was why I decided to go big and long on my car and take it all the way to "as new" ($$$$$ as you know!- lol).
Aero mirrors: IMHO, the flags became ugly the moment the aero's were launched by Porsche on the 968. I LOVE these on the car. IMHO, much better flow with the lines of the car. I purposely have them gloss black to somewhat mimc/pay respect to the black mirrors on a 77 Martini.
Tints: these are simply for comfort. Especially with the big glass rear hatch. With a black interior, this makes a HUGE difference. You may live in a mild climate. It gets HOT here in the summer months.
Thanks for your inspiration and friendship on the board! _________________ PCA Licensed Club Racer & Driving Instructor Current P cars: 1981 931

Dan, what can I say? Your leadership and help as been invaluable along the way! Not to mention parts (I still need to install my H4's - this weekend!) Thanks for the kind words!
Wheel color: LOL, you and I have similar taste. I have been waiting to "finish" the mechanical restoration (knock on wood! doubt it, plus I am still planing on your TMIC kit, and fairly soon), and get the martini wrap done, and THEN contemplate wheel color. I still have the D90's mounted so I can run the car while/if I get them painted (or powder coated). My first choice was to get them done to perfectly replicate the spider webs that were black with machined face. However, these wheels don't work for that. So, my second choice is a tie, gloss white to replicate the 77 martini, or, gloss black, to match the mirrors as well as jive with the modern trend. I do have to say that the silver looks pretty decent in the flesh.
Door handles: again AGREE!. 968 units are simply going to have to go on, and black to match the aero's, as well as better match the 931 era. The thing is these handles are new and I finally have nice matched keys and working door handles. I may need to wait on this. Knowing me I will probably lose sleep now over this and will source a pair asap.
Drip rails: this one is a bit complex, net of it is they are only black because the car is black paint underneath and the wrap guy just thinks they will not take, and especially will not "hold" the wrap. I would prefer them white but agree it at least doesn't suck within my overall theme. _________________ PCA Licensed Club Racer & Driving Instructor Current P cars: 1981 931
