Hello
Im James, I have recently bought a Porsche 924 as my first restoration project. The car came with no fuel pump, so I have bought a new one, but after a bit of research I have found out that it should have an accumulator. I was wondering if you could please confirm that this is true??
I have also got a rusty fuel tank and I am unsure on the best way to clean it, has anyone got any ideas??
and I am unable to get power to the fuel pump, Im thinking the relay but has anyone got any other ideas??

In addition to the pump, you will need the support bracket which bolts(with rubber bushes) to the 3 small mounting brackets on the inner wheel well. The accumulator should be visible above the fuel pump location in front of the tank. Cleaning the tank is better with it out, but a flush through with fuel may help, there is(or should be) another pump wired in behind tha large cap where the tank outlet pipe exits. Power to the pump will only be with ignition on and cranking, although you need to check fuel pump relay and fuse.
You can find parts and help in the UK here https://porsche924.co.uk/ _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

| i have also bought this car as my firt project and ive found out that if you want a spotless fuel tank you either need to buy new for about 500-1000 bucks or do like i did and buy a kit to redo my tank which worked perfect. ive recently sropped working on my project due to lack of funds and time so if you would like to have a parts car i have one for sale lol |

You can tank your tank to a radiator shop to see if they can pressure test it for leaks. If there are any maybe they can weld it fixed. Then you can coat your tank inside and outside with Por-15

Pressure testing a fuel tank can turn it into a balloon. Radiator guys should have all the cleaners to do a good job of cleaning inside.
When I went to pick mine up they had pressure tested it and then asked if it was like that when I brought it in. They had a panel beater return it to its original shape with a few creases but no structural damage and free of charge. The boss was dreading if I didn't accept it as they were then talking of cutting it in half to get creases out and then weld it up. _________________ '79 924.
