Hi Eric

Its not the positioning of the wipers, i've already tried that. The sweep of the wipers is OK, what they do is go to the bottom of the screen and instead of stopping they come back up a couple of inches across the screen. If i remove and reposition them to compensate the wipers fall off the bottom of the screen. It is more pronounced when using the washers ie they park back up the screen about 6 inches, if its just normal use they park back up about 4 inches, but damned if I can get them to park horizontally

Ok need some one that has opened the switch on the stock to try and help here.
What does the contact mechanism look like? In other words is there a resistor in the
switch or in the line to the motor some where? Most new cars have different resistors
for each circuit that the stock activates in the different positions.

Anthony. When the car is in intermittant mode.... do the wipers sit
down in the proper location? If yes then there is an issue with the switch and not the
motor. The motor is taking the proper commands, but not getting the correct signal for
the off or park position. I once had a probe that you could fiddle with the switch... crossing
two circuits to get the wipers to park correctly. Ford told me I needed an entire new wiper
motor assembly for hundreds of dollars. Instead I found that setting the swithc between off
and intermittant would get the wipers to park perfectly.

You said you took the wheel off and cleaned all the contacts correct? What did they look like?
I don't suppose you want to take it out again and take a picture?

Sorry I don't have a absolute answer on this one. Just need to work through it.

Hi

I did take the steering wheel off, but that was to try and fix the immediate (and more annoying problem of the wipers activating when the indicator was used,or going over a bump,or sneezing) I undid the four screws behind the wheel but couldn't take the stork assembly out and I couldn't see what was behind it stopping it from coming loose, so i reassembled it and its been OK since (just luck I guess)

As for the parking when they are on intermittent between cycles they park half way up the screen (almost) but they still do sweep correctly ie to the bottom of the screen and over the side they just carry on past the point of parking. When used to wash the screen they park in the same place an intermittent, but if the screen is already wet and I just cycle them once manualy ie a quick flick of the stork, they return more accurately but still up the screen.

Does this help

thanks Anthony

I think I get it now. The wipers work fine as long as you are not using the intermittant setting.
So it would seem that the system is not sending the correct signal to the motor, or the stepper
in the motor is no good. I would take another look at the switches under the wheel again to
make sure all is well.

I will think about it some more and investigate it.

I will try to give some more later.

Cheers Eric

Is the stepper motor a seperate part of the wiper motor or does the wiper motor just receive a different signal, I don't know if this makes any difference but I removed the wiper motor about 12 months ago when the linkage bar kept popping off, I don't think the two coincided but I couldn't have damaged the motor could I.
