The Answer.
In terms of the condition at the time of purchase, this car is by far the best condition 924 I've acquired. Unbelievable, near-showroom condition. It has a few minor cosmetic issues here and there, but the car is essentially all-original, showing 52*** miles on the clock.
It even came with the original owners manual and service book, with service stamps from the dealer up through the end of 1993, whereupon the 2nd owner acquired the car. He didn't get stamps in the book, but provided all of his service records for the duration of his ownership. And in a neat bit of symmetry, I acquired the car exactly 20 years TO THE DAY from the date that he acquired it: 12 April 1994!
Driving this car is like stepping back in time. It's the same sensation I had when I first drove the Carrera GT: "So THIS is what these cars felt like when new!" As a 1979 naturally aspirated model, it has the US-spec 120BHP motor. I haven't taken it far, but it just purrs, and feels so solid and confident. I do not understand the maligning of the NA 924. They have a different character than the turbo cars, and can't compare to modern 2.0L. But they have a panache all their own, and when they're in top nick, they are an absolute joy to drive. Cannot wait to get this one out for some back country motoring!!! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made

Congrats on the new aquisition.
Yes, the NA is a fine motor and a fine car, very nice to drive.
I'm secretly wishing for a mint late NA to join the stables with the two turbos. |

There. FTFY.
Yeah, I always enjoyed driving SONIC (81 NA). There is a remarkable difference between the early 95BHP motor and the later 120BHP motor. The Martini and Sebring cars are almost night and day. If you can score a late model (1982-onward) ROW, it would be uber-cool.
I was so tempted to buy that 1983 ROW car that was down in the Cincinnati area, but they had re-sprayed it. I hate body work, and I hate even more when a car is resprayed but leaves the engine bay the original color.
I'm focusing now and completing the special editions lineup. If anyone knows of a 1981 Weissach car or a 78 Limited Edition car, please ping me! Even if they're not listed for sale. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Heh, if I were a Magnus, I wouldn't be collecting sub-$3K unwanted cars from the 80s
But I am working on the Toofah Museum of Awesome. Free admission if you bring some tools, beer, and coveralls. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

You're going to need one of those pallet-rack car storage systems. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Indeed. Or a handful of 4-posters. Or a bigger building. I warned Deanna when we got this place that entropy* was a dangerous thing.

Nice car. There is a semi-beat Sebring running around OKC that I see every once in a while. Older dude, looks very original. _________________ 1978 924, aka The Red Rocker |

| Actually in regard to car storage I was wondering about pallet racks as well for our building. We have a forklift so I could put them up higher if I made up some rails to lift them safely by. |
