Just a note for anyone who has not been there before,
there is a Days Inn and a Holiday Inn right on the other side of
I-5(really close). If you want a room don’t wait till the last minute with all the vintage racers that will be in attendance. Then on the far side of the noted hotels is the dog or pony track.
Days Inn Portland 62$

Best Western Inn At the Meadows

Has anyone spotted discount tickets to the Portland historics yet? Groupon had a great deal last year. [/quote] _________________ '88 924S 3L 6sp RedRat

Oh man! That's too bad Kenodog, was looking forward to meeting up just South of Seattle for the drive to Portland.
Oh by the way Kahl what are you bringing this year? I pack a lot of tools just in case and I had to use them on the way home year before last so I can relate to your experience!
Just doing a few odds and ends on my car to get ready for the drive South. This last week has been tied up with my Daughters High School graduation so now I can get back to work on the car.
Cheers!

Anybody coming through Boise? I was hoping to take back roads through John Day maybe drop down through Bend, depending on timing. The run from Detroit Lake up to Estacada can be fun. Or old hwy 30 in the gorge? _________________ '88 924S 3L 6sp RedRat

I have a small remote control plane that I can mount a small camera to. I could bring it and get some cool aerial shots of the event as well as all of the 924's together.
Anybody interested or should I just leave it at home? (it takes a decent amount of trunk space but not too bad) |

I always thought one of those rc planes would be good as a scout for troopers. _________________ '88 924S 3L 6sp RedRat

| Furthermore, if I'm not able to hook up a muffler before I leave, will this get me in trouble from the cops in either Washington or Oregon? I've never had problems up here but I'm not sure what the laws are down in the states. |

Does anyone coming to Portland have an extra boge front bumper shock? I have one stuck in the compressed position. _________________ '88 924S 3L 6sp RedRat

If you had both stuck in the compressed position, we could make a trade |

I drove my 240z around Portland for 4 years with 3" pipes and a cherry bomb. It wasn't as loud as open headers but it was obnoxious. I was never bothered by the police. _________________ '88 924S 3L 6sp RedRat

If you're over here again, you can have my old exhaust, except for the downpipe (I'm going to keep that). _________________ 78 924 NA

I can bring the stock tailpipe/muffler off my car, free if you'd like it.
you shouldn't get too hassled unless you're painfully loud.
I still have an extra MSDS header and some etra bits and bobs (trailing arms, cams, etc) let me know if anyone is interested and i'll bring them along.
The RC plane sounds cool. Theres lots of open areas just outside the track where people routinely fly their planes/kites/etc. _________________ Stefan
