Did someone ever mount a turbo on a plain 2.0 engine?
You might say, there's the regular turbo version available, so why bother. In fact the prices for 924 turbos are exploding in Germany and I really don't care about originality. Before swapping the engine for something really wild (and probably Asian), I'd like to know if there are any experiences in this forum for this idea.
I'm not in a hurry, there are so many things I need to sort on my 924, before I really start the hunt for some extra horses. But putting a turbo on it should be a quite affordable way to get some more power out of the van engine.
Proper suggestions, ideas and experiences are very welcome. |

There used to be a turbo kit from BAE but they went out a long time ago. I beleive Raceboy turboed a N/A. Several people have supercharged N/A cars. _________________ 81 924 N/A

I have always wondered if it was possible to use the old Ford / Mercur Thunder chicken turbo on our cars? _________________ Cheers;

Raceboy's conversion from NA to Turbo is probably the most successful (and powerful )

Just use a modern turbo and an intercooler = 951 whuppin' time.
I prefer German engineering to Asian _________________ 1979 UK 932 |

Weasel:
Love this thread.
Good inspiration.
McGyver:
Depends on how fit it is.
If it's a good car, the price is pretty good.
We're going up to more than 10K for good turbos.
But actually I wouldn't spend that much money for a donor.
The body of my car is very sound and I wanna keep it. |

The closer it is to stock specs the better the price will be. 924s are becoming more and more expensive and accepted as true classics.
Anyway. This is about ideas, advices and experiences for a turboed 2.0 engine. Anyone else, except this great Racerboy thread? |

read ideolas perfomance mods post, that will answer your questions...
yes it can be done, you can stick a turbo on anything... but most people change to efi as well and deal with cooling system mods, oil cooling, clutch pressures, driveline limitations and fueling/ignition mods...
just common sense stuff like making sure the engine can cope (high milage stuff)
biggest issue is turbo location in dealing with cis or starter locations on the N/A...

I am willing to sell my complete setup, including engine, turbo, intercooler, EFI, Spec clutch etc. PM me if interested, I'm selling it for a very reasonable price (less than parts cost). _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Sounds tempting. But as mentioned in the beginning, I've gotta sort some other things before hunting for some extra horses. I just started collecting information and your build thread will be a big help. |

Here is a pic of my 1980 Euro 924 that is getting a turbo via BAE manifold. I have added two 550cc injectors that I plan to use for fuel enrichment.
