I have seen Ideolas Redline kit. I understand that one also needs a fuel pump and FPR like from a FLAPS. Fuel line also. I assume that some throttle cable fabbing what else needs done? What happens to the old CIS pumps? Does this affect the heater operation? Does anyone have a list or link to a complete instaion? I have the competancy to put this in, just would like a bit of a map to get the details done. _________________ 1978 924, aka The Red Rocker |

I ran a Weber set up from parts I peiced together from Ebay and Summit racing. The manifold I bought from someone on this board. As far as fuel pumps, throttle cables and linkage go I got a little creative. The fuel pump I used came from Summit Racing. It was a Carter electric pump that ran 4 psi and mounted in the stock location. For fuel line I cut the end off the fuel return line and used 5/16th hose bought at a local autoparts store. The fuel pump came with a filter that was premounted on the in side. I put an extra filter on the side that went to the carbs. I ran that set up for close to four years is ran great. I wish I would have had the money to for new carbs when I did mine the used ones I got came off a Fiat and were slightly over jetted. I have pictures of most of my set up if you'd like to see. _________________ 81 924 N/A

This is a simple aftermarket throttle cable I bought at a local autoparts store. It mounts in the stock location. I'm pretty sure I had to bore the stock part out a little. Just use a regular drill bit.
Here's a picture of the bracket installed. I don't have a picturd of it from the bottom side but it has four holes drilled in it and mounts to the bottom of the carb with the screws that hold the bowl on the bottom. Weber actully makes a bracket similar to this but its $40 and mine was free.
This is a throttle cable bracket I made out of a peice of steel that used to be the top of a 480 volt panel board.
Here is the return line cut with a rubber hose added.
The Cater pump on the stock mount.

The Redline-Weber kit I sell includes the proper throttle linkage for the 924. You may need to adapt / modify the cable itself, and the mounting point for the tensioning bracket. I haven't gotten quite that far in my build yet, but I just wanted to point out that you will get the throttle linkage bits that are always missing when you buy them second-hand. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Good info & pics thanks. What did you do with the bundle of wires in tan wrap, the ones with connectors for the CIS? _________________ 1978 924, aka The Red Rocker |

I fitted my weber carbs over the weekend. The coolant pipe that runs under the intake manifold did not interfere with my setup, although it is very close to touching the underside of the carb on the end where the heater hoses connect. Nothing that a slight bend to the end of the pipe wouldn't fix in any regard. YMMV.
As for the CIS wiring, I'm not sure if it's the same on the really early cars, but on most of the cars I've worked on, most of the CIS wiring is contained in a single harness that you can simply disconnect near the bulkhead. Anything that doesn't disconnect can simply be zip-tied out of the way.
I haven't gotten the provided throttle cable setup mounted yet, that's next, I'll post pix when I do. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Yes Dan on the early cars all the CIS wiring is contained in one bundle that comes to a round multi pin connector I just unplugged it and tired it up where it couldn't be seen. _________________ 81 924 N/A

One thing you'll want to double check on is whether that bundle provides ground for anything else you plan to leave functioning... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Where is a good place to find M24 x 1.5 plugs to close up the injector holes? Pelican has oil drain plugs for Boxters, but isn't that a tapered plug? _________________ 1978 924, aka The Red Rocker |
