Heya everyone,

It looks like I'll finally start getting some time this summer to get my 77 924 rolling again. After my wife getting pregnant with twins in fall of 09 and her then finishing up her PhD a few days ago I will have some free time again. Woo-Hoo!

For awhile I have been building a step by step process for what needs to be done to get the 924 running. I have found all this information here but for my own sanity I want to collect it all in one list so I could check of items one by one and not forget anything.

So now my question. Could all the 924 Deities out there please look at this step-by-step and give me comments, corrections, etc? I'm hoping that once everyone has had their say I can clean it up and make it something that can be used by newbies in the future.

https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AZVCwkLyoSuPZGQ0eDZ4NTNfNDJnY3JmbnBmaw&hl=en

Thanks a lot for taking a look and I'm looking forward to the comments I receive.

Adam

Excellent idea. Something to add to the new site. Just FYI, the Bosch K-Jetronic manual and the Porsche 924 Workshop Manual have very specific, step-by-step/flowchart troubleshooting guides for no-start conditions...

Wonderful-I printed it out. Since I've got 4 bolts to remove to pull out the TB carrier for rework, I'm heading toward the gas tank also. Unfortunately the plate on the bottom of the tank is seeping so I'm going to have to find some gasket material for that. Might also be a seed on one of the two accumulators(looks damp). Fortunately very little rust out this direction. I've used POR-15 paint on rusty stuff and it works well, but quite expensive.

Thanks for the replies. Glad you like it but remember, this is all knowledge I got from the great users of this board. I can only take credit for collecting it.

The main reason I posted this was to have people that have done or are doing this to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Question I have are in pink. I'm planning on adding to this as I have time and my questions get answered. So please fire away and tell me if I have any omissions that you see!

Thanks,
Adam

Adam,

Your WUR section isn't exactly accurate. Pump function is tested by delvery rate, not pressure. The pressures tested are system pressure (regulated by the primary pressure regulator in the fuel distributor body, and adjusted by shimming the regulator), and control pressure, regulated by the WUR. On an NA, the WUR doesn't make adjustments on the fly, it ONLY regulates control pressure during warmup. . .control pressure is decreased to richen the mixture for a cold motor, and as the engine warms up, the WUR gradually increases control pressure up to the "warm" value.

OK, I rewrote a couple of sections and added a bunch of additional information. If you guys could take another look and see if I got anything wrong and missed the point on something that would be fantastic.

I pledge, when this Step-by-step is done to write up a full-fledged How To article with pictures and everything.

When I first started working on this it would have been great to find something like this to give me a plan of attack.

Thanks for all your help so far.

Adam

BTW, minimum delivery rate for an NA is 750cc in 30 seconds, and 1050cc for a turbo.
