Hey all, I've been calling around to get new carpeting for my car. I have this ugly brown carpeting now with a black leather interior, it's in excellent condition but, does'nt look good at all. Everyone I talk to says only used carpeting in bad condition is available. Does anyone know where I can find brand new 924 pile carpeting? Preferably in some sort of light grey.

i have successfully use spray dyes to color carpeting and leather- the best color is black cause it hides damage and covers light and dark colors well. the dyes for cloth seem to leave the material stiff, but the dye for leather leaves the leather soft so maybe the leather dye will not make the cloth feel stiff ? any wayjust sharing what has worked for me on my 924 Turbo and my 928S.

Thanx so much for your help, I will definitely check those places out. I may have to go with the dye however, as I'd like to have light grey carpeting (as close to my diamond silver met. paint as possible). And the carpeting I have now is like new, I just can't stand the color of it. I'll let you all know what happens, I'm also thinking of spraying parts of the dash (like the plastic piece that holds the guages) a different color.

vince i used, P D I or B D I, 7 in-1 auto color spray. i found it at my local WAL-MART it was about$3.50 a can this worked best on leather, as for the rug matterial the spray product was next to the BDI on the shelf at the store, the rug product does'nt seem to last well through wear, you may finr you want to re-apply every so offen.

also it's important to prep- the area properly- meaning to clean away any residues from protectants used over the years- these residuse keep the watery spray dye from evenly absorbing, i have used alcohol and even plain detergent successfully

the spray dye for leather also said "as seen on TV" on the side of the can. i use 2 to 3 cans per seat ,thats about 2 coats.

before i found this product i called around and priced some professional dye priducts which are garntee. to be great but the prices per quart in a can (not spray type) was at least $25 and would not cover as much as that many spray cans, also the dry time for the spray type between coats is about 10 minutes!
at last if you find you are still unhappy w/ your carpeting my local WAL-MART also carries very inexpensive roles of automotive carpeting, though you will need to use something to keep the rugging formed to your intereior, something like spray adhesive or even heavier

HOPE I COULD BE OF SOME HELP.

good luck on your spray job!!!!

remember , the more coats the thicker the paint layer. let each coat dry well before reapplying
if you cut it short and spray only 1 or 2 coals on your plastic dash and gauge stuff- it will only take one dump or dig to scrape that new color right off!

enjoy
