Today, after many weeks and many dollars worth of "while you're in there" crap, I finally put the head back on my '81 Weissach.

To celebrate, I hung the Webers back on, slapped the valve cover on top, and took a couple pictures.

Hopefully I'll be able to fire it up by Christmas.

Looks great. How did you do the black on the valve cover? Is it standard high temperature paint or something else?

Thanks guys.

@ the mad electrician: Nothing wrong with second-hand. Most of my stuff is second-hand. Or third-hand, or fourth-hand...... And I love the stacks too. Hate to cover them up with filters.

@ macBdog: Cams are for van engines. I'm thinking of either converting to 2-stroke, or computer controlled solenoid valves, like an F1 engine. Well, maybe not. But wouldn't it be cool.

@ MikeJinCO: It's VHT high-temp wrinkle finish paint. I found it at Advance Auto, I think. I polished the fins on the valve cover, painted the whole thing, then wet-sanded the paint off the fins with some 600-grit paper, and then re-polished. It came out really nice.

Where did you guys get your intakes from?

I would defiantly do the conversion with some used carbs. Look how much room is in your engine bay with out all that CIS junk!

Bought mine on eBaymotors.

Using it with EFI throttle bodies from TWM-Induction that look exactly like the Weber/Dellorto sidedraft carbs. Pretty neat mix of old school and new school.

Great looking engine/car, dude!

...now that I've found out the prices of a manifold, maybe I need to try and find one used
