Hello all, I have my trans and drive tube out (for clutch replacement) on my '79 N/A (hopefully not N/A for long: ), working on supercharger install). I am re-working the linkage (taking out the old ball and socket that is causing problems and replacing with a universal type joint used for recumbant bicycle stearing). When I got the car, the spring at the base of the shifter was not connected to anything, I was wondering if anybody knew how the spring is supposed to be attached, or if I should leave it completely out....Any info would be helpfull.

Thanks,
Alex Roy

My understanding is that this should probably apply pressure on the shifter itself to push it to the left, thereby centering the shifter in the 2-3 gate. Mine also was non-functional. I think this is due to dicking around with the shifter knob too much LOL

Good luck.

speaking of snailsheel shifter springs, Performance Products sells a bushing kit, that they advertise as also containing the "updated shifter spring." Anybody know anything about this spring? I mentioned it at the dealer and they said that they didn't know anything about it.
