For pictures of the beginning of the slicing (I'm about 1/2 way done with the actual mounting of the intercooler...the piping is another story) check out my web page. Also, I added a wiring diagram for getting the passenger window to work with my keyless entry system window roll-up feature.

Hey Jon,
Great pics on your site. I am planning an intercooler upgrade on my '80 931; however, I haven't decided on what type of IC to use (looking at SAAB 900, PORSCHE 951, or an AUDI IC). Can you share with us the dimensions on the 951 IC and the dimensions of the space under the front nose section?
Thanks.
-Peter

For what it is worth to everyone, at the Hersey swap meet 951 ICs were going for $150.

Check the page again. I have updated it. There is a LOT of cutting and slicing necessary to fit the 951 unit. In the end, though, I think it will be worth it for two reasons:

1. The 951 unit does not block the radiator and therefore should not adversely affect cooling. I live in Southern California and it's in the 90's all summer, and usually 70+ all year.

2. Maintaining a stock appearance. I don't want the car to look different outwardly. Yes, you'll be able to see the intercooler if you peek through the front vents, but I won't be adding a hood scoop (read: not subtle). In my opinion, the Carrera GT hood scoop looks really out of place on a stock-bodied 931.

Jon, Seeing your pictures convinced me that an air to water intercooler is the way to go. The front mounted air to air looks like too much work.

I can understand that :)

Best of luck!
