| I want to run a 931 snailshell on my S2 3L. 16V project. How do the ratio's compare between the Audi Type AOS gearbox and the 931 snailshell, and what would be the likely pros & cons? |

All of the gearing ratios are available for download here:

About halfway down the left column is the link to the spreadsheet Applebit put together some time ago.
How are you intending on using the S2 3L 16V car??? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Cheers for that Dan and Applebit of course...
Its really just a test car if that makes sense. I've just completed what will be a daily driver, basically a 86 944 with 86 951 running gear and S2 drive-train. This "new" project is based around another 86 944 shell with 931 engine mounts welded in and is a rare late model sunroof delete version...so I want to do some forced induction
I havn't ruled out a 931 engine platform entirely, but theres a M44/41 currently hiding in the engine bay (as much for storage as anything else) plus I have a good snailshell, TT and suspension beam gathering dust. |

I would think the G31 would be a good match for a car that will be driven with spirit. If it were strictly a street car, it might be a bit short of the power of the 3L, but for your purposes it would probably be just fine...note that a lot of the guys tracking 951s prefer the shorter gear ratio Audi box, and I think the G31 compares pretty favorably to that... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
