How about reviews or must have books:
I have the standard Chiltons, and Haynes. These are OK but Clarks Garage has really been a better source of information.
I also have a great magazine article from a Brit 911 that talks a lot about these cars and compares them and gives specs.
I also bought the Bosch Fuel Injection. I would not recommend it, unless you have a few of these cars, all built across multiple years. There was only one chapter that showed how the on-board sensors mapped the information to a given fuel injection profile, and a little theory covering the pulsed injection..ect.
One of the better books I have purchased is the Porsche 911 buyers guide, yes I want one, and it is great information year by year about the car. I wish there was one available for the 924. _________________ 67 Mercury Cougar XR7 under Restoration

The Borders Books location in our building went out of business last month. I scored some sweet deals at 40% off:
Turbocharging Performance Handbook
By Jeff Hartman
Published by Motorbooks, 2007
ISBN 0760328056, 9780760328057
How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems
By Jeff Hartman
Published by MotorBooks/MBI Publishing Company, 2003
ISBN 0760315825, 9780760315828
Motor City Dream Garages: Amazing Collections from America's Greatest Car City
By Rex Roy, Donald R. Sherman
Published by MBI Publishing Company LLC, 2007
ISBN 0760329893, 9780760329894
I was pleasantly surprised to see Don Soenen's garage highlighted in the dream garage book...he lives right around the corner from me, and I worked with him while serving on the Canton Cultural Commission to help promote Orchestra Canton, an offshoot of the Plymouth Symphony. Don is the chair of the Symphony Society. Great guy. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

The Gold-Plated Porsche by Stephan Wilkinson is a nice break from the techno stuff.
Forbes Aird also did one on Bosch fuel injection that's good bathroom reading.
Dan, I think someone missed the holly spirit in one of your posts.
Anyone get Excellence? Some of the old ones have good info on the 'front porches'. _________________ '84 944 - kid blew motor

There is also a Clymer manual. I recall that while the Haynes was more comprehensive, the Clymer had some good attributes - perhaps some better quality/clearer photos, and I recall it also had a color photo section. It may have covered a few things Haynes did not, or did so in a way that was easier to understand. There is a version through 1980, and a revised edition through 82.
Clymer: Porsche 924, 1976-1982, Includes Turbo - Shop Manual

I have excellence from #2-#134
The Gold Plated Porsche is good, But Roadster by Chris goodrich is better (it details the build of a caterham seven)... Cobra and Hemi in the Barn- great reads for "find stories". Side Glances by Peter Egan all 4 volumes- for when you want to know someone else thinks like you. All 22 volumes of The world of automobiles - an amazing reference. Theres more, but I took a few pics of the bookcase instead:
According to the guy that owns DG motorbooks in Toronto " I have it baaad"
Thats the fun reading.. all the techie stuff lives in the garage _________________ 1967 912
