Absolutely brilliant looking job, good work.
Can you describe the process you took to get that finish in a bit more detail? In chance of progress pics? Also... where did you get the paint and is it not guards red? What is the paint code?
Sorry for all the questions but there are a few of us on this boarding planning to do what you are already doing.
Cheers! _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

That looks hot. Great job.
Assume youre doing the rest of the body to match?
It is guards red, isnt it? |

Thanks for all your comments guys,

The paint is not guards red but porsches indian red. It's a nice red with a hint of orange.
Generally comes across as a darkish red but in the sun (as u can see in the pics) looks a bit orangey
Because i dont have the time to put in enough hours to spray the entire engine bay at once i broke it up into several stages. Bought indian red two pack (its what they call it) enamel cans and proceeded at my own pace.
The brown paint was actually still very good so i just spent hours using paint thinners and rags to clean up every little spot. Also sand a few rough areas and noticable chips for a nicer finish.
Many hours were also spent in tapping and covering up and no thanks to the wind i finally got there.
As for the painting part itself to get a glossier finish dont spray in patches but keep it running (not all the time of course)
I'll get you the paint code later as i dont have it on me.

Yes i will eventually buy a 4ltr can of paint and a gun and do the entire body. But this will all be after i fit a gt kit (could be a while)
Will look funny in the mean time

Lol, after i was half way through i too was thinking what did i get myself into. But just break it into stages, for me it was 4, top area behind the wall, left side, frontal section, and right side.
Just make sure you spend the time on prep, meaning mindless hours of cleaning and taping/ covering. Boring but worth it in the long run.
A few hours here and there and you'll b done in no time _________________ 1981 924 turbo (daily driver) |
