|

hey guys been a while since i have posted been busy with school and whatnot. anyways got a question. changed my gear oil in the tranny recently and i am worried if i got enough in there. i know the capacity is 2.6 quarts and i bought 3 of redline. anyways i spilt a decent amount while putting it in but got enough in where it started to leak out the fill plug on the side while level. would it be safe to say i got enough in or are you suppose to jack up the car and tilt it to get the 2.6 quarts in . IDK haha may sem like a weird question but been worrying about it and the car goes on the road in a week and don't really want to buy new gear oil and change it again if im just being crazy. _________________ 1979 924 N/A |

You're fine.
Not in THAT way, in a mechanical, gear oil sort of way.
Drive and enjoy. _________________ Toofah King Bad

My Skippy transmission oil filler -
Fill container (it holds 1 quart), replace lid, place line in filler hole, pump air into Skippy by hand or very low pressure air compressor.
(Makes it easy and puts all the oil where it needs to be.) _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

That is awesome! My fluid scavenger looks very similar, except you apply vacuum instead of pressure. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Rasta, quick write a disclaimer for Smoothie!!! Imagine if someone puts too much air pressure in that thing!!! _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Yes, "very low pressure" - maybe I should have that in bold type.
-But I haven't seen another glass peanut butter jar in quite a few years anyway. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I got a hand pump that sticks into the top of a bottle of gear oil, to pump it into the trans. It's designed to screw into the top of the bottle, but of course the threads don't match the redline bottles. Still very useful. Cost about $20. _________________ Vaughan Scott

I think I got mine either at Napa or at Performance Products or Pelican. I tried finding the part listing online to show you a link yesterday but couldn't find it... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
