Looking at a car for sale that's advertised as:
| Quote: | | 1981 Porsche 924 turbo, needs engine rebuild think piston rings are shot. still runs. Low compression. *snip* |
Coming from an 87 924S, I know that some engine problems can be catastrophic to the wallet, how does engine work for the 931 compare to the 924S/944?
Any chance that this car's engine is fine and is just having wastegate issues?
I haven't heard back from the seller yet so I don't know if the "low compression" was diagnosed by a mechanic or if the seller is just guessing. _________________ 1975 911S |

the 931 is actually pretty common to have broken piston rings, however isnt that expensive to replace them and the bearings, may need a hone, but is possible that you may need new pistons. _________________ 3 928s, |

Ask to see the compression results and have a peak at the plugs. _________________ 1981 931 (Concours)

oh I forgot to mention that the turbo will probably need to be rebuilt too. _________________ 3 928s, |

This may be moot as the seller hasn't returned my call yet... I'm beginning to think the car has been sold. _________________ 1975 911S |
