hi - all i have only just joined but some of you i all ready know, steve Bass , isold him his s1 turbo for his race car some people would know me as stan but he has passed away now, so its back to fred, anyhow i have 1980 s1 as my main car and i have a s2 wich is being broken, but has a lovely engine i want to swap the engine over apart from the eletrics i can't see any problems, do you lot think its a good move or do i keep it to s1 engine, and does anybody have any advise on the eletrics change i have all the bits and pieces and wire looms etc should this be an easy venture with the porsche flow diagrams for the 80 and the 81 any help will be great as my s2 engine should be out this weekend.  _________________ bulldog fred

I am preparing to make the same swap on another member's car. The real issue is the flywheel. You must use the s2 flywheel and distributor because of the crank sensor. Its a good idea to take pictures of both cars before starting, and don't let the various fuel and electrical parts get mixed. Most of the major parts are the same.

A similar question was brought up just recently - http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=18078
I'd give you the same answer even though you have a complete 931 wire harness available - unless there's a big difference in condition between the 924NA and 931 wiring, I'd leave them where they are and just add the few extra wires needed for the ignition and the different wiring for the alternator and starter to the 924NA body. -Or just remove the applicable specific wiring from the 931 for use in the NA. _________________ "..it's made in Germany.
