Erratic Speedometer & nonfunctioning tachometer

the tachometer in my 80 931, does not work at all. the speedo is jumpy while odometer works occaionally.

Any advice?

The erratic spped is caused by (usually) aworn cable near the front wheel. It rubs on the spindle and wers the plastic coating out and allows water to enter, hince, rust. You might pull the entire cable and shoot some lube thru it. Also, ensure that the nut on the back of the spped it tight. If not it will make a "ticking" sound as it spins.

The Tach problem probally is a wire to the distruibitor. Get electrical diagrams and trace it out.
