I finally have the '82 931 driving. It ran when I got it but it had a broken trans. Replaced the trans, drained and flushed the tank, blew out the fuel lines, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the cap and rotor, put on ACCEL custom 8mm yellow silicone plug wires (an 8 cylinder set is $32- at PEP Boys), put a couple of gallons of fresh gas and a jug of TECHRON. It ran poorly for about 15 minutes, backfiring now and then, and hesitating. Then all of a sudden it settled down. It's still a little rough but I bet that the injectors and valves are gunky. Thanks for all of the help Vaughan and the rest. The FAQ section really helped.
