Question #1 is; i'm replacing the non-working hand brake in my car with a new one. Is it worth the trouble to take the driver seat out? Does it make it enough easier? Question #2 is; the analog clock in my car stopped working, I have a new one but am somewhat confused as to how to get the old one out.

#1 it makes the install alot easier if the seat is removed,

#2, to remove the clock, you must remove the piece it sits in, you remove the 2 screws then just pop it out

Trouble? The drivers seat is very easily removed and only takes a few minutes.

Hey lizard, do just the 2 screws hold that piece in? It doesn't seem to want to come off. Anything I'm missing?

i did this recently. i all did was slide the seat all the way forward. which allowed me to easily access the e-brake cable tensioner ( located at where the cable attaches to the handle on the cable itself ). with slack in the cable i moved seat back again to get to the bolts holding the handle to the body.

On the subject of handbrakes, can anyone please advise on:

Releasing the handbrake, I press the release button, push the lever down. The lever then stops halfway down, so I have to then press the button again to release it totally. Is that correct?

Also, it doesn't hold on (very) steep inclides

I'm starting to think my handbrake is on its way out or is wrecked!

PS Cambelt change tomorrow, thanks for the advice everyone.

press and hold the release button lower the arm then release the release button

if it is not holding on steep slopes, it needs adjustment, adjust the discs/pads in the drum to fix this.

while on jack stands if you can turn the rear wheel by hand easily after 2 clicks of the e-brake handle i would say adjust it.
