The following ad appeared in the Melbourne "Trading Post"
classified newspaper today, Thursday 28 June 2001.

Porsche 924/944. coupe 1978, 3.8 litre, V6, 4 speed auto,
4 wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, power steering,
sunroof, mags, new leather interior, 6 CD stacker,
hand built, metallic grey, 2 pack paint, OZE-514, $22000
Phone 0412-346-988 0412-346-988 Tullamarine

For those of you outside Australia, the local General Motors
subsidiary (called GM-Holden) makes a stretched, widened
version of the GM-Opel Omega/Senator (called the Holden
Commodore/Statesman), which uses either a Chevrolet V8 or
a locally built version of the Buick V6.

This means that 3.8 litre V6 engines are plentiful here, which
makes this particular engine swap attractive for 924 owners
in Australia. It sounds like this guy used a lot of parts from a
944, as well as a 4-speed automatic gearbox from somewhere.
I plan to call this evening for details.

Yeah, I just wish we could get the Commodore up here... instead all they can do is keep cranking out the 3.8SC... nice engine, but outdated... too bad they can't manage to develop a new engine that'll stay in one piece...

Just bring the Commodore up here, then we'll have a decent replacement for the F-body...

This sounds very cool!

I've been working a an engine swap like this as well. I was thinking more about a Buick GN turbo motor.
