From: brian Email: bcookt06394@yahoo.com Date: 17 Jun 2001 Time: 10:49:38If they painted the walls in the local pub would you quit going?
The thing that makes this board nice is the people and their ideas! What Vaughan is working towards is not a replacement for the "Garage", but rather a remodeled "Garage" with some nice new tools. I'm a system admin myself and I know the pain of keeping up with these discussion boards. You rarely get a chance to enjoy it! Webmeistering can be a real bitch!
The proposal here is not about abandoning 924.org for Rennlist, but rather using their tool within the Garage. Once Vaughan and John D. at Rennlist get things organized, it'll be easier and nicer than this one. Yeah, you will need to register, but with that you get some cool new options. Also, you only log in to post a new message. You can reply and read anytime. What's more, maybe we'll get some new members in the group because our discussions will reach a larger audience.
In summary: this remodel really needs to happen for several reasons. What we need now is ideas on how to make it the best for everyone.
Just my three cents!

From: Rob E. Email: nedswickie@hotmail.com Date: 17 Jun 2001 Time: 11:23:04I just went to the Rennlist board and looked around. It seems alright it will just take some getting used to. If we can keep the FAQ and technical sections I think I could get used to the new board. I will miss the simplicity of this board but, if Vaughan isn't getting any compensation and no one is willing to help him mantain this board then I say go for it. Sorry Vaughan but I don't know the first thing about maintaining a discussion board or I would volunteer.

From: Chris Gibbs Email: chris@gibbs111.fsnet.co.uk Date: 17 Jun 2001 Time: 13:40:27Hi Guy's,
Well it looks like i'm out-numbered.
It just seems to me this is the only place on the net to ask a 924 question and get a reliable reply.
rennlist is full of idiots
so go if you must but I won't be coming!
Thanks for all the (past) advise
Cheers
Chris

From: larso Email: l_porsche@hotmail.com Date: 17 Jun 2001 Time: 14:30:02i fond the 944 guys on rennlist a tad nazi, but the 924 guys on rennlist on the 924/931 are mostly built up of people from here, and a couple others that are fine, except for some people who are on steroids who make fun of where your from if they get mad.

From: Rick Martinez Email: ricomartinez@yahoo.com Date: 17 Jun 2001 Time: 14:43:58If we all stick together and move over to the rennlist, then we will have a lot more strength. Maybe even the majority? Or at least a very vocal minority. How else did we win that "model of the year" or whatever that award was on the Porsche company website?

From: Me Email: vscott77@nospam.hotmail.com Date: 17 Jun 2001 Time: 16:18:20This is exactly the point I made in my earlier posts - the decision is yours to make, as to which board you post to. However, I am far in favor of ditching this board. That doesn't mean I can't continue to have input on the shape and function of the board, and it doesn't mean you guys can't have any impact on how it works.
Now, some words in defense of rennlist. a) If it weren't for Rennlist (and, before it, Porschelist, then back to Porschephiles) this website wouldn't even exist, and you all would be SOL - at least off by yourselves.
The online community that is so strong grew out of the rennlist mailing lists; in fact, this discussion board has become so strong it has drastically sapped the strength of the 924 community's presence on rennlist.
Not that this is a problem; they key thing is that we've had a place to call home online (and will still). The fact is, we know we have a big community - we see it here every day. However, we're invisible to the rest of the Porsche community at large, since we've sequestered ourselves in our own private world.
I've swapped plenty of emails with John Dunkle - he's a great guy - with much positive feedback about the idea of us "glomming" on to the rennlist boards. However, he was kind of bemused when I suggested we are such a large and vocal community. Of course, he has no idea, since he doesn't see any of the traffic over here, which would otherwise be on rennlist. He only sees the 10 or so of us that are regularly posting on the 924/931 list.
Of course, now you guys are making me look like the one giving idle threats, since you won't even go over to the rennlist boards. <g>
Seriously, though - I'd like to see every one that posts over here make a post over there on the 924 or 931 list (I'll try to get him to merge them, in the meantime, as they should be). This will show him just how numerous we are!
Vaughan

From: Chris Gibbs Email: chris@gibbs111.fsnet.co.uk Date: 17 Jun 2001 Time: 16:41:37Ok Vaughan,
If it's just a case of being noticed within" The Porsche Comunity" then fine.
I have a couple of predictions though.
1.If we move en' masse to this board, we will be noticed by all the "flamers" on Rennlist, you know the ones, with the superiority complex. (this has started already with the 928 dick-head)
2.The 924 board as a seperate board will dissapear within 6 months. Why ,once the opposition has been eliminated would rennlist bother with the extra admin? The 924/924s/931/944/968 board is the next logical step.
3. This board is the only one I would trust for fast, accurate information. Will people trust information from folks who seem more interested in where they can get a "bra" for their boxter?
it's just so superficial.
just my honest opinion
Cheers
Chris

From: larso Email: l_porsche@hotmail.com Date: 18 Jun 2001 Time: 00:39:21that sounds good, majority rules...
there are many 944 owners but only a few flamers, best way to get rid of flamer is just to not deal with him (im sure you guys think im a flamer sometimes about amc!! LOL)
