I want to install a turbo gauge, want to know if it is ok to tap into the Vac/Boost line between the intake manifold and the DIC unit under the heater box, behind the console. Is this a good place to get readings for the gauge?

You need to take your boost reading between the turbo and the throttle plates. The easiest way to do this is to put a 1/4 npt brass tee connector at the point where the over-boost pressure switch resides.
