Well I stil have not been able to start the 931. Seemed like I was getting closer but that kinda leveled off.
I put on the CIS module from my 81 931 and that didnt really make a difference. SO i pulled out all the injectors and turned the pump on and watched them spray. Then i asjusted the CIS mixture counter clockwise untill they didnt spray unless the Air meter plate was moved.I used this as the base setting. Then I put the injectors back in and cranked the car and then adjusted the mixture back and forth but now i left it at 1/4 turn Counter clockwise from the base setting and the car seemed to fire twice when I first turned the key, and some times would fire again after another 2-3second of cranking.

Again i had the car runnign before(but was just as hard to start) ive checked EVERYTHING but the WUR.

the only thing i notice is that the CIS module makes a thumping/ticking noise for about 10 seconds after i crank. and the CIS plate has no resistance(like theres no fuel) after i come back to work on the car from the previous day(s).

I just put the tranny in (what a pain) and am about to take it to a shop, but I thought id give it one last shot that someone might think of something.

Thanks
Mike

PS. i still have some copper head gaskets left.

Can you remind me what happened to make this problem arise. I am more that happy to go through this problem with you. Have you tried removing the fuse for the fuel pump an physicly pour about a table spoon of fuel into the inlet manifold (with fresh plugs) to see if it fires up?

try sraying carb cleaner in vacuum port on throttle body to get the car started and keep it running long enough to adjust it till you find the spot were it it will run on its own, than you can play with it till its right( buy a few cans of cleaner with the straw)

In your post you said that you were adjusting air meter plate and fuel and it still wont start.if you think you are having trouble with fuel delivery components one way to know for sure is to bypass them using a another means to get a flammable liquid into the air stream ( can of carb cleaner )you can get an engine to start and run for 15 minutes using a few cans of carb cleaner, with one person turning the key and another spraying short burst of cleaner into the throttle body the engine should start if it does you know the problem is fuel delivery parts and once it is warmed up you can adjust it till its running rich on its own (blowing black smoke)and then do fine tuning. if it doesn't start the original problem is not the fuel system but because you changed it you may now have two problems.the biggest problem is knowing "EXACTLY" what part is defective
