Does anyone have (or know where to find) a detailed schematic of the oil circuit for the 931? I'm thinking of an electric oil pump to feed the turbo, hopefully using the existing filter and oil cooler, and am trying to find out where things go without pulling my engine apart...

If that worked, the pump could be timer- and/or temp-controlled to run after engine shutdown. Also, it being a new pump the pressure would be more regulatable (images of 9 bar cold oil pressure blowing turbo seals into the housings) and probably cheaper than a new oil pump ($550CDN)

Any thoughts?

Sounds like the turbo saver that I have installed on my '80. I just taped into the banjo nut that connects the oil return line from the oil cooler to the oil filter housing for the pressure side, and also drilled and taped the oil drain plug for the pick-up. The electric pump will bring the oil pressure guage up to about four bar prior to starting.

Hmm, I've been doing some research, these guys seem to have what we want, as well as a engine pre-lube system that cuts down starting wear. Thoughts, anyone? Could someone (say, Bob Dodd) build these things? The URL is:

I don't particularly like the 'rechargable canister' thing. The maintenance aspect could be annoying.

That tank device on the Firstlube site is just an oil accumulator - basically a simple reliable way to go (no motor to wear out). They're good for pre-lubing and easier to hook up, but for a turbo engine, something with an electric oil pump can provide both pre-lube and oil pressure after shutdown to lube and reduce temps near the turbo bearing through the heat soak that occurs after shutdown. Another handy feature of an electric pump system is they can be assembled with quick-disconnect fittings in one of the lines and used to pump oil out for oil changes. The oil accumulator type system makes more sense for an NA engine.
