|
|
I bought a pair of Vibra Technics POR174M Fast Road engine mounts since those on my '83 924 are shot and resonate and make the shift lever vibrate at around 2500 rpm and stopping at 3k.
Those mounts are absolute trash and a scam.
The vibrations and noise are significantly worse at any rpm range and i have not noticed any kind of improvement in feeling or handling or whatsoever.
260 euros wasted.
Does anyone know where i can possibly find a replacement for atleast the stock right engine mount (the one with the usually broken spring)? Or atleast some DIY tricks to fix the vibrations and noise? |

They are really rough, you should try the track ones, you wont be able to use the mirrors anymore due to vibrations
I went back from the fast road vibrat to original mounts but filled with polyurethane on my track day car. Not as responsive as vibratechnics, but million times better on the road. Those springs are available separately aswell if you have a broken one. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Well, they are called "Vibra Tech"
Stock rubber is very good in a street car. I replaced the broken spring in my engine mount and its pretty nice again. _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden

They are not on their website, but you can email them and they'll help you out. I also got all the rubbers for my rear axle from them, seams good quality.
I have not yet tested these parts, as I'm in the middle of the restoration. The quality seems good and the customer service is very nice. The rubber for my rear axle they didn't have, but they made them for me after I send them the dimensions. And as a bonus, prices are good too! _________________ Restoring a late 1979 Porsche 924. They got back to me yesterday, different options of stiffness and base price is 40 euro each but expect vat/tarrifs/paypal fees ontop of that.
Currently don't have a car to test in otherwise I would have ordered a set to see what they are like, if they can even just compare to factory mounts ill be ecstatic. It's impossible to find good mounts anymore that aren't already in a car or on somebody shelf to go in a car.
Somebody throw these on and let us know how they feel! _________________ 1980 931 "Salt" Bucket wannabe racer (Dreaming)

I emailed them just now. If it is the total mount I am gonna order them.
Rose passion ones are, I think the Hamburg Technik brand. Probably good enough.
Design911 also has a version, similar to vibra technics, their house Rohler brand. Maybe its softer. _________________ 1981 Weissach Edition #179 |

He's on vacation right now, but he did email me back. The mounts are allegedly poly on an original metal mount. You can choose the hardness. I asked him to send a couple of pics when he's back at home. The price was right, 80 euro for both mounts (but it's got to be shipped to me here in the US so I expect it to be about double all in... still affordable). _________________ 1979 924 NA - AKA the Mid-life Crisis

I got a reply just now.
"No. You will need to use the metal structure from the old engine mount. We are selling only PU bushings (without the spring), a washer (I will need to check for the bolt), which you will press into your metal support. You could spray those metal structures with the black paint to prevent corrosion."

Seems like there is more bushing there than the vibra ones. I have sent a follow up email to request if a hardness of 60 is available. Does anyone know the vibra hardness? Nothing I could find on their website.
I hope shipping is not 80 euro. I ordered a master cylinder from overseas a month ago and it was $25 via dhl and made it to me in 3 days. _________________ 1981 Weissach Edition #179 |

I got the same email as Goldwolf.
Is 70A that much harder than 60A? _________________ 1979 924 NA - AKA the Mid-life Crisis
