I am converting my car ('82 931) to EFI and one of the steps involves replacing the crank pulley. Only, I can't get the crank bolt off. To add to my frustration, I have removed it before, a few years ago. I just don't remember how.
On my 928, it's easy, just bolt in the flywheel lock and have at it. However, I can't seem to fine a flywheel lock anywhere. I saw a thread where someone was alleging that a 944 lock would work but no confirmation, and I'm skeptical.
I have blocked the rear wheels (both sides) and put the car in gear (tried both 1st and 5th) but the motor still turns far too easily.
I saw someone recommend pulling a wire off the coil and using the starter but...first, I no longer have any of that stuff installed, and second, I already have PTSD from the last time when I was reinstalling the crank bolt, left the wrench in place like an idiot and several thousand curse words later I was replacing the head. So I'd prefer not to go down that route. _________________ -----------------------------------------

You dont need to remove the central bolt in order to replace the pulley.
Just those 6 allen key bolts. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits
