Hello everyone!
I've been working on an aluminium inlay piece for my center console. Somewhere in the live of my car someone has tried to fit an aftermarket radio and by doeing so cut a massive hole in my center console. Because of this it was not possible to fit any din 1 radio's in proparly anymore.
I like the aluminium look that the 944 center consoles have so I wanted to replicate that and make it possible to fit a radio into my car again. After quite a few afternoons messing about in cad and testfitting with paper I now have a first prototype that I wanted to share with you guys!
I'm was thinking of making the final version from a brushed alu plate and getting it annodized black, this way it is protected a little better from fingerprints and I think it could look quite nice but I am not 100% sure jet. If you have any ideas on the surface finish and protection I would love to know. I don't want to leave the aluminium blanck because I do not wat to be polishing my center console every weekend.
The final version will be tweeked a little bit for a better fitment and include the graphics for the heater controls.
As you might hav noticed in the pictures above I've fitted a 996 radio and oil temp gauge.
I've got some more pictures on my instagram (@Project_924_1979). It is a bit of a hassle to post them all on here, so if you want to see more have a look. _________________ Restoring a late 1979 Porsche 924. This is my first car and my first attempt at restoring a car.

Wow, they sure did ruin that radio area pretty good... that sucks.
I've been a fan of brushed finish, but that might be a bit of a pain to DIY... at least will want practice on a different piece first... _________________ Vaughan Scott

I'll order it in brushed finished plate of aluminium, that way I don't need to do it. _________________ Restoring a late 1979 Porsche 924. This is my first car and my first attempt at restoring a car.
