Question as a new 924 owner but decent experiences with Porsches including am 87 944 i had years ago.
Recently purchased a 1979 with 33K miles. Very well documented. On the PPI this didnt come up and I do wish I had asked the question. I notice that the color of the exhaust manifold and the pipes leading out are white in color. No rainbows, and im debating whether or not these things were painted and its just paint wearing off or its evidence that the car's exhaust is too hot (lean condition i suppose?). Its almost like the white js flaking off and I can see some rusting pipe underneath.
Anyone ever see this or have thoughts ?
The car runs beautifullly starts right up and I do not notice anything at all that would make me think there is a problem otherwise.
What is the ideal way to check air/fuel mixture on these?
Im trying to add pictures will do that in a subsequent post _________________ 1979 Porsche 924 2.0 33K miles

Original parts were not white. Perhaps a prior owner had the parts ceramic coated or painted them. Not an indication of an overly lean mixture, rather normal exhaust corrosion. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

Yeah, that sounds like a jet hot coating, commonly seen on racecars. _________________ Vaughan Scott
