924 4 Speed Shift Rod vs 944 016 Shift rod

Have asked this question elsewhere [rennlist] but as yet have no definitive answer - i figure if anyone knows the answer, it would be you guys [no pressure!]

As part of converting my 944 to manual ive raided my 924 for parts including the shift rod. Despite what some part listings say [ie Lindsey Racing] I am aware that the 4 speed shift rod I have ex-924 is a different length to what I require in the 944 using an 016 box. Does anyone know what the difference in length between the two is?

Note - finding an 016 shift rod is not an option in Aus - tried that already.
