| Hey gang, I'm in the process of 931 swapping my 944 (which is not the point of this thread) and I need to get the engine mount brackets off of the body of the 931, has anyone done this before? What's the easiest way to got about it? Would it be easier to just weld some flat steel together? |

You probably would have better luck yes starting from scratch, because the way the stock mounts are welded onto the body is so complex... just make sure to reinforce adequately! _________________ Vaughan Scott

I wanna share my experience.
A few years ago, I dreaded taking the steering u-joint off, so found a way around it.
I used jacks and pieces of wood to support the engine, but you could make an engine hoist like Danno, Ribs, and some of the other folks on this board.
Prior to doing the job, if you have the updated motor mounts, pick up 4 new M8 x 40mm 1.25 pitch bolts in case the old ones break (like mine did).
Spraying the old bolts with some lubricant and letting them soak might be a good idea too.
Please make sure your car and engine is fully supported prior to getting under there. This procedure is just what I did, so proceed at your own risk. |
