im trying to figure out exactly whats goin on with my ignition circuit. can anybody clarify what the coil positive voltage should be? im guessing the clearish wire is a resistor wire. i wired up a bosch red coil using the proper 1.8 ohm resistor not realizing the car already had some resistance. im thinking i can omit the use of the external resistor to use the red coil with my points distributor.

i was getting like 4.5 volts at the coil and boy was it slow. this is freshly built 931 N/A engine that i built so i have no idea what to expect power wise but im pretty sure this is my main hurdle so far. i fired it up for the first time today.

nevermind i figured it out. gets battery voltage when not running and cranking and drops to around 10 volts when its running, drops a bit lower when revved. still dont entirely understand the circuit but the voltage works for the red coil with no external ballast.

I also have a more complicated question about the Ignition coil:
1. Should I have a Series resistor on my Porsche 931 S1? (5 and 5A in picture).
2. What Ignition coil do you recommend?

The picture is from here: https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/pet/porsche/924/4/901050/

Doesn't anyone know if I should have ballast resistor / Series resistor on 931 S1 car?
They appear in the book, they appear in the picture - but they do not exist on my car.
I don't think they make any sense on the 931 S2.
Their place should be on 931 S1.
