Have to press clutch pedal to floor to engage gears?

I was wondering if one needs to press clutch pedal in 88 924 all the way to the floor before changing gears or can I change gears with no issues, grinding by only pressing it half way or so? Seems like travel is quite long. Ger.

Really depends on your cable adjustment and clutch wear. But in my case (really worn clutch) all the way to the bottom is the only way.
