I have an '82 n/a 924 as my first project car! I'm really enjoying it so far, but finding I have a lot to learn.
I'm currently trying to remove the alternator to have it tested, so I need to get underneath it to remove the bolts holding it to the block.
There is a skid plate in place, which I've been trying to remove for a while now. I removed 4 10mm bolts. Two at the rear of the plate, and two on the sides by the wheel wells. As far as I've found those are the expected bolts. There are two more bolts at the front of the plate. These bolts have Phillips heads, a washer, and the plate is folded over the washer. These bolts spin freely, loose enough to twist with my hand, however, they don't back out. Even after unfolding the plate, so the washer would clear it, the bolts won't come out.
Hoping there is a simple solution to this, that I just haven't found yet. Any advice is appreciated.

It’s been awhile but it seems like there is a captive nut behind there. The nut is held in place by a slotted bracket of some kind. I think I was able to get a small screwdriver in there to hold the nut and use a larger one to unscrew it.
But I had this issue without the tray in place. _________________ 1981 Porsche 931 w/S1 engine & g31 transmission. Water-cooled intercooler |

The captive nut cage rusts allowing the nut to rotate freely, try and stop the nut rotating and if the screw doesn't come out, drill it out and use some plastic push fixings. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic
