I am so so so so so so sorry

I don’t even know what to say...
I am terribly embarrassed and completely feel like S**t..
I dont even know how this happened, but it did, if this is real life..
It all seems so surreal..

I think it was a combination of the brakes not being bled or broken in all the way, along with much stickier tires on the front than on the back..

I don’t want to make any excuses.. It’s all my fault and I feel like a piece of S**t..

I am completely fine, just a couple scratches on my shoulder..

This happened at relatively low speed (65mph tops, and I’ve taken this corner at 90-95 many times)...

It’s insane.. this was UP hill..
Wrecks happen here DOWN hill, but even the police and tow driver said they have never seen it happen UP the hill before..

This is only like 1 mile from where I live.. The car wasn’t even warmed up yet and I always stay out of boost before they are up to temp..
I really wasn’t going fast..

I am SO sorry to everyone who has loved this car..
I have been working very hard on it trying to get it sorted out.. Lots of brakes and suspension parts.. Piles of parts.. $$$

I just don’t know..

I flipped the 941 on it’s roof..

Please hate me.. I hate me..

I hate to even admit this but I feel like I have to get it out..
I’m sorry

Oh wow! Glad you’re ok!
These red hot 924s are like the most massive stars, they burn hot but they live less.
Humans make mistakes, thats how we learn.
Dont worry about the car, you can build anything you want as long as you’re healthy.

There is a distinct difference in how a narrow body 924 behaves and how a wide body 924 behaves. I found out that the wide body is much more prone to going sideways and making you face the wrong way around. Dont know why but the narrow body seems to want to stay pointed in the right direction.

Wow, suddenly my leaking engine feels like a small issue.

Im glad you got out of it without getting hurt thats the imortant thing, its an old car to crash in. Bad tyres can make cars unpredictable, maybe some oil, dirt or anything else made it more slippery than usual. I understand its not only about the money, its tough feeling to live with now, but you will get over it over time, there are more projects to play with. At least you are actually using these cars as intended, not many people do that, and that always involves a risk. How does it work with insurance?

Oh man, that sucks.

Nothing guts you worse than stuffing a car you love, that you've spent so much time on getting right, then you irreparably bend it... BTDT, it's tough, but this too shall pass...

Oh Dear.....sad to hear about the car, but happy you are OK.

Kind of like a short term hot love affair....at least you got to love her, if even for a short time.

Sorry to hear about the crash and glad to hear that you are ok.
As other mentioned, don't worry about the car, it's just metal and can be replace.

Take the time the go over it, buy a good shell and transfer everything over, assuming the mechanic is good to go. Let the new adventure begin!

Checked the oil and it only lost a little.. Smoked a bit but still runs fine..
Doors still open and close fine, door gaps are fine, hood is fine, opens and closes fine, rear hatch is fine..
I didn’t try driving it but I’m sure it’ll still go..
All glass is fine besides the windshield which was hot from the inside by I think a gallon of windshield wash fluid..

Their was no hard hit or anything, it just spun like crazy into the grass on the INSIDE of the corner and flipped onto the roof..

Doesn't look that bad, impressively sturdy roof structure on these cars for being a 70s car!

Wow! Sounds like you could have pushed her back on her wheels and drive away. lol

Seriously, that's awesome. Sounds like you don't event need a new shell.
Also surprised how well the roof held up.

You should make a new post about the rebuild of the 941, starting with the pictures above and a bunch of pictures showing all the damage after recovery. I would be following.

Cheers

I just got done doing all the damage report pics for the insurance company..
They are talking awfully quick about just totaling it but I’m not sure..
I told them I’m definately going to keep it so for now they only want pictures and aren’t even going to haul it to a shop or wherever..

I did have full coverage so we will see where this goes..
The car still looks like it was in very nice shape before this happened.. I cleaned the interior all out for the pics and stuff..

I have a feeling they are going to try to lowball me but I think it’s quite obvious that it was in extremely good shape beforehand..

The vin is too old/too few numbers for them to just look it up, so that could be the reason they are being so nonchalant about it..

Actually they seemed most concerned about injuries and I think they are quite happy about the fact that they aren’t going to have huge injury claims..

I’m not going to try to screw them, but I want them to be fair..

Maybe it will end up getting fixed by them instead of totaled, but if they don’t total it I want a shop to make sure the chassis is still straight..

Definitely check into the legal side of registration, ensure that you can still license it. I have heard some states make it extremely difficult to re-register a car that's been totaled - understanding that's still up in the air for you... maybe you've already considered that... just to make sure your bases are covered...
