I have replacement rubber mounts for the muffler bracket that is mounted to the transmission (80, 85 catalog, illustration 202-15, part 20). I can't get the old studs out though. Are they threaded onto the part that's mounted to the trans? If so, what options do I have? If not I guess I can tap them out, but tapping has not worked for me so far.

The left side bolt/stud (first in video) has just a flat head as the rubber bumper has fallen off.

The right hand side bolt is worse because its been melded to the hanger bracket. The nut spins freely but I have no idea how to get the bolt itself off. The bumper seems fixed to it still.

Here's a video showing where I'm at: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMechanics/comments/op6gdj/how_do_i_get_these_bolts_out/

Been hitting it with a hammer and chisel but with no idea what'll come of it, not sure what else to do. Any advice appreciated. My only idea is to just drill through the studs, but it seems like a mess in theory and worse in practice.

I ended up buying a multi-tool with a bimetal blade and cutting the studs off. Afraid to use a grinder due to all the sparks since this is right below the gas tank. Multi-tool is slow and difficult but feels safe.

The bumper stud seemed to be welded on, so I was left with solid metal. I drilled through it with a 1/4" bit and then used an 8mm tap to make new threads.
