There are two fb groups for the 924, i’m a member of both.
If you want to sell something like i will want to sell my sc kit, fb is a good place to be as there are loads of people there…but it all comes with a price..
The thing about fb is that you have to either mute everybody and everything or sort out trough tons of garbage.
This forum is clean, select, focused and polite, while fb is a trash mix of literally everything out there.
We are blessed with this small comunity and stable platform, so thank you guys and thank you Peter _________________ https://www.the924.com |

FB has it's pros and cons and there are a couple of groups that are worth watching for info, parts sales and even "entertainment".
But I also agree with many of Morghen's points, and two examples come to mind. One is a fellow from the UK I believe who was on various 924/944 groups and thinks that he's God's gift to the transaxle world. Although he sometimes is helpful, many times he's distainful and very rude. Frankly I don't see his posts anymore so I'm guessing he either blocked me or got booted from the various groups for his caustic behavior. Another is a fellow who purchased Rom's GTP recreation and named it 924-007. Again he seems like a nice guy and "friended" me as he and his mechanic needed some information, but I feel his presentation is very disingenuous and could lead to issues further down the line and I told him as much...(some who know me well understand that I'm not always politically correct when it comes to some things!!!).
On the plus side it is much easier to post photos on FB, LOL!!!
But this group is still pretty cool and members are respectful of each other and the car and that in itself keeps me coming back to check things out every morning! _________________ '95 BMW 318i/5 ..."Pearl"

I'm so glad to have been off facebook for years. I use it for marketplace occasionally when I need to sell a thing but it's been a dumpster fire for a very long time. It's a shame they basically usurped Craigslist's spot as defacto online used sales market..
I'm with the group here -- would rather interact on a forum where you know it's actually going to a) be searchable / useful for longer and b) get a more reliable and kinder set of folks..
For a car like the 924 without this forum I don't know what I'd do! _________________ 1980 Porsche 931

So I was in that particular FB group for many years and occasionally would comment on posts.
Then one day I couldn't access the group when I'm logged into FB; it appears that I've been banned. I wrote to the admin for the board but never heard back.
I post in the "Porsche 924" group and the "Porsche 924 turbo & Carrera GT/S/R Owners Club" group once in a while.
FB isn't perfect no doubt...I find the groups are another way to connect with fellow 924 owners. _________________ 1981 Porsche 931 w/S1 engine & g31 transmission. Water-cooled intercooler |

Yesterday we had a 6 hour respite when FB got it's wires crossed. Six hours of national sanity or national panic, depending on your outlook.
EDIT** And I read that Zuck lost 6 BILLION worth of personal wealth yesterday when the stock went down. He was reported to have been seen panhandling on traffic islands. Guess he'll have to sell South Dakota next to recoup his losses. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |
