Hi all,

I've gathered everything needed to make new reference sensors.
One of you asked me to keep the community updated before launching the project.

I also thought to make the washer below the sensor and to give it with the sender, but it appears this part is not really essential as not present on all cars besides the manual. Hence, I think I will let this idea.

My target price was 125€ for the first parts w/o shipping and it seems realistic. If we can do less we will try but I can't promise the moon neither.

I know alternatives exists, but are not as cheaper as what I could provide, are not perfect from what I know (even if interesting on other features) and I think it's still interesting to keep the original car configuration when it's possible.

Now I just need your feelings prior to concretely launch the project. It doesn't represent a small investment to solve an issue which already has solutions (as explained). However I can't resign to let such speculation for the community...

If you could make it for 125Eur you will have many customers around the world, several parts suppliers would probably want to buy it aswell. Maybe you should even give porsche classic a call, i guess they have customers from time to time that asks about it (A shame that Porsche themself haven taken care of it, they mostly introduce parts that are already available and not critical). Theres not really a good option without compromises, so this would be a good option, since most of the other parts of the DITC system rarely fails and are pretty cheap to buy second hand.

125€ would be for the first parts. Others must turn around 150 we'll see how could we do.
Porsche will never take the risk to deal non original parts. They could make new ones even if their original equipement supplier stopped its activity. But they don't care about these unloved Porsche. It's not an interesting market for them. I thought to deal with shops. Unfortunately, it won't be possible to keep a such price, it would be more expensive (>200€) than what I could offer if I directly sell the sensors. My aim is to keep as decent prices as I can for the community. But maybe things will evolve, nothing is freezed by now.

Good luck with the project. Many have tried and failed to secure a solution. I hope you can succeed. Thankfully my cars are not tied to the need of the crank sensor. But many are.

It’s hard for me to believe these things are so hard to reverse engineer and reproduce..
Come on.. We have 3D printers, and if one can wind their own guitar pickups one should be able to wind their own pickup sensors..

Ain’t rocket science, this is early 1980s tech..

In this case it actually is somewhat hard to get it exactly if you want to reproduce. I have been speaking with Cocolev and helping where I can.

I actually wanted to do the same but he has more information. I had one bad sensor that I have been slowly digging into to figure it all out. If you are trying to get it exact there is a ferrite core shape like a castle tower that I can't find anywhere from google to Alibaba. The coil part is easy enough for me

If he comes up with a solution I will buy one or two

The aim is to make a new one respecting the exact technical specifications, cotations, process and requirements as the original was of course I've everything there including running components, OEM 931 sensor supplier data, and more to lead this project by now.
I think it is a bit hard to print this sensor as you have electrical components embedded into a polymer matrix. It's not like a mount or any part made of a single component/material.

Important stuff is Vpp and geometry...i doubt that internal construction makes a difference...the ditc is a crude analogue machine...all you need the replacement sensor to do is to match the voltage output that Vpp value and have the right geometry to fit....sensor gap is also a big factor.
