I'm restoring my late uncle's 1978 924 NA. It hasn't run in over 15 years. I've finally found myself in a place financially to overcommit to getting her running again. I've looked through quite a few threads here and haven't found exactly this issue (sorry if I missed something obvious).
Problem: Getting fuel through dizzy to injector lines, but not coming out of injectors when cranking, feeding starter fluid, and lifting the airflow plate. It cranks and sputters with the starting fluid, but obviously not getting fuel. Have done the bottle test to watch for spray but there's nothing.
Before this point, I've installed/done:
-New fuel filter
-New Bosch high-pressure pump
-New oil/filter/fogged and turned valves by hand
-New alternator and battery
-New fuel lines (from fuel dizzy to injectors only)
-New injectors and seals
-New plugs and gapped (tested for spark)
-New dizzy cap
-Coolant swap (as much as possible till it cranks)
-Drained and cleaned fuel tank (my hands are still stained)
-Ran Marvel Mystery Oil mixed with fresh fuel through lines to help clear 20+ years of gunk
Other things I've explored but not tested yet (though not sure if they will prevent it from even rough starting):
-WUR removal/cleaning
-Cold start valve removal/replacement
-CIS pressure testing (I don't have kit, but will follow guidance here and drop the cash if that's the key to a solution to at minimum, starting it once) |
