My front spoiler on my '80 S1 is damaged beyond repair and I have a new fiberglass one on the way.

Strangely, my under-engine pan was welded to the front spoiler - insane.

I can see that there is some linkage/connection between the engine pan and spoiler, but have no idea what the original looks like.

If anyone can provide some details on the original connection between these two pieces I would greatly appreciate it. Are there some small rods that go into holes in the spoiler? I'm clueless.

TIA,

GN

Still appreciate some details here on how these two parts connect.

Received a new fiberglass spoiler today from Europe but not sure I'll be using it - pretty rough shape/poor replica - warped, rough surface that will need a lot of work before painting.

Upon close analysis, it is clear the front edge of the pan bolts to the two metal U brackets on the lower backside of the front spoiler, which is attached to the frame by 2 bolts just off center on either side of the black plastic center grille, and to 3 bolts on left and right sides that also attach the fenders to a frame bracket.

My front spoiler was so mangled I could not see that until I spent 4 hours attempting to shape it back into its original shape. U-brackets were mangled as well.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks! After banging on my messed up spoiler for 4 hours and getting it close to its original shape, I see two vertical bolts in the same U-bracket that bolts the spoiler horizontally to the lower 2 bolts of the radiator.

There are two corresponding holes in the front of the bottom pan that bolt it to the spoiler mounting U-brackets - which bolt to the frame members holding the radiator.

These two vertical bolts attach the bottom plate indirectly to the frame members in addition to the side bolts holding the lower plate.
