Hi all,
I told a friend who owns a 931 ( 1981 ) about the possibility of making his original shifter a short shifter, the grind-and-weld-method as described in the How-To section.
We're planning to try this out BUT I have no idea how to get the shift knob off without destroying it. The press fit seems to be VERY snug.
Any pointers please? I hate it when what should be a relatively straightforward thing turns.. eh.. interesting .
Whatever insight you have, fire away
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!

You should be able to unclip the boot from the center console and pull up on the knob to separate it from the lever, right? That's how mine came out.
