I have a bad fan motor in one of the 2 fans on my '82 924 NA. I'm pulling the shroud/fans now and would appreciate advice from anyone who's "been there & done that".

I'm not finding a specific 924 fan, but there are some generic replacements - including shrouds with 2 fans at a fairly reasonable cost . Or replace the bad fan with a generic fan in the existing shroud. Also it might be possible to attach the existing blades to a new motor as an option.

Thanks in advance for comments and recommendations.

A genuine fan is costly here (may be nla now) so I bought a generic fan from the local car shop the same size and fitted to the shroud
I still had overheating problems so attached another to the front and set to run continuous with ign on. (I live in the tropics)

I have about 5 shrouds and countless fans. PM me if you are interested either.

I have a v8 conversion and use a 944 turbo radiator and radiator fans. So far I have not had cooling problems.

I wouldn't think it would be too much trouble to use 944 fans and shroud on a 924. The 944 radiator is about 2" taller but the fans are 6 blade and slightly larger in diameter so you would get more airflow. There are lots of 944 fan assemblies on e-bay.

I got a generic cheap ebay slim replacement fan 3 years ago
While I haven't used the car that much, installing the fan was uber easy.
Fan is still working today without any issues.
I replaced the entire 2 fan shroud with a single fan the heigh of the rad hooked up to the standard alternator wiring.
