Trying get get heater blower to fire up.
PET page 813-45
How do you get the cover off the squirrel cage in cowl? Pry? the bolts are NOT in play, some PO never put it back or whatever.
We get no signs of life from the motor, I have power at fuse 3, couldn't get relay out but wanted to look for power at motor and the resistor has melted the plastic cover at some point.
Momma is insisting I attack this since he was almost stranded by interior icing last night.
It's an AC car and my research so far has revealed the stock squirrel cage was pretty crappy when new but crappy beats NOTHING at this point.

There's only goo holding the cover on and it can be carefully pried off. I just had to replace the blower motor on my '88, so when getting the motor in and out just watch the tabs on the back of it since they're fragile. My motor was frozen up and luckily it wasn't the resistors, but I have seen a few cars with bad resistors and I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but replacing the resistors didn't fix the issue...

The blowers in our 924S are excellent... it was the very early 924 blowers that were awful. Here's a video of me replacing the blower motor in my car if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brFDN8OykvA

I hope that helps!

I have a 79. Can I upgrade my motor to a squirrel cage?

got it out, it fought hard, but the issue seems to have been the fan switch, pulled the connector off the back of the switch, cleaned the contacts lightly and it fired up all speeds, hmmmm
It doesn't shut off completely though, wants to spin slowly with key on.
